What We Believe...

Bible - We believe the Bible is God's inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God to all mankind. The ultimate authority for everything we believe and do at North Shore Church is God's word, the Bible.

God - We believe that God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Father expresses the mind of God. The ultimate motivation at North Shore Church is to know God and make Him known, glorify Him with our lives.

Jesus Christ - We believe that Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross as a sacrifice for the sins of man, was buried, and rose from the dead. He is alive and is the head of His body, the Church. The Son expresses the person of God. The ultimate message of North Shore Church is the person and work of Jesus Christ for us, in us and through us.

The Holy Spirit is in the world to reveal and glorify the Son, apply the saving work of Christ to men, impart gifts to those who are born again, enable men to live a godly life, and seal the believer for the day of redemption. The Spirit expresses the power of God. The ultimate power within North Shore Church is the energizing work of the Holy Spirit to bring about the Father's will.

Man - We believe that man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of God's creation. Man became separated from God in sin and is in need of redemption and reconciliation with God. The ultimate message of North Shore Church is forgiveness and life found in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Salvation - We believe that salvation is a free grace gift of God offered to all mankind. Only by believing and trusting in Jesus Christ can one be redeemed from the penalty of sin and be reconciled to God forever. The ultimate security of North Shore Church is found in God holding us to Himself and never letting go.

Discipleship - We believe that every Christian is in the process of being transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ. As we study God's Word in fellowship with other believers, we find strength and encouragement to draw closer to God and have His life reflected in ours. Discipleship is the process of loving the Lord with all our hearts, souls, minds and bodies and to love our neighbors as ourselves. There is no arrival point, merely a process of being transformed by the renewing of our minds toward Him. The ultimate purpose of North Shore Church is to make disciples.

The Church - We believe that the universal Church is the body and bride of Christ and is made up of all believers in all the earth. North Shore Church is an independent congregation of that body of believers. We bring the worldwide mission of the church down to a local appplication or worship, fellowship, evangelism, discipleship, and ministry. The ultimate role of North Shore Church is to represent God to our community, area, and around the world as the answer to life.

Baptism - We believe baptism is a symbolic ordinance that represents a person giving his/her life to the Lord. Through it we picture the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. The word baptism means to immerse and symbolizes the totality of a life given to God. Our baptismal practice at NSC is immersion. Anyone who comes as a new believer would anticipate being baptized in that manner. For membership, though, we understand that those coming from denominations that do not practice immersion may still have a meaningful baptismal experience associated with them coming to Christ. Not wanting to diminish the significance of what God has done in their lives, those members will be accepted based upon the testimony of their salvation and fact of baptism. The ultimate act following salvation is baptism done in surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Church Government - We believe that a church can operate best when dedicated, spiritually discerning people oversee the operations and vision. Therefore, we have installed a Church Leadership Team comprised of Elders and our Pastor to work together in guiding the ministry of our church. This team has the authority to function in behalf of the church and will bring the church into decision-making when the need arises. Our Pastor is our Shepherd, directly beneath the Good Shepherd, and the Elders provide accountability, encouragement and counsel in carrying out the direction of the church and managing its business affairs. The ultimate head of North Shore Church is God Himself with delegated authority given to our Pastor and the Elders.
